Hi there!

Very interesting piece of hardware, nice to see vendors supporting Linux (with even GPL and BSD code!).

I have not really experience about CentOS and this hardware, bu let's first check your kernel:

Code: Select all

uname -a
What at first sight seems to be happening is this:

Your device has 2 drivers available: HPI and ALSA. ALSA driver is already merged in the kernel and if you install HPI they will conflict. So, perhaps your soundcard will already work out of the box with ALSA on kernels later than 2.6.35. Can you post the command that triggered the error above?

Code: Select all

[rd@rdhost ~]$ uname -a
Linux rdhost 2.6.32-696.10.2.el6.centos.plus.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Sep 12 23:39:53 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
[rd@rdhost ~]$

The error occurred after the installation - http://www.audioscience.com/internet/do ... chives.htm
asi_alsa_driver_2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64-1.0.25-1.SL.x86_64

I got this from the support - Rivendell

Hi Dragan:

It should be. Some of the newer ASI cards need an updated driver before they will function. Try the attached RPM instead. Download it to a directory on the Rivendell system, and then do (as ‘root’):

yum update </path/to/rpm/file>

You’ll need to reboot afterwards.

Cheers!

hpklinux-4.14.07-2.el6.x86_64 .rpm

------------------------

It’s not an ALSA card, so you won’t see it there. Look in RDAdmin->ManageHosts->AudioResources.

Cheers!

When i install it, there is no error but the sound card is still unavailable ??

Perhaps better stick with tech support from the vendor: they perhaps know this better than anybody else.

Just for curiosity, what modules are up and running on your system?

Code: Select all

lsmod
studiom wrote:It’s not an ALSA card, so you won’t see it there. Look in RDAdmin->ManageHosts->AudioResources.
Shouldn't that mean that tech support said to you that this is not a card supposed to be handled by ALSA? This means ALSA mixer will not show it. It will be handled by the other driver you installed. Use the utility Tech support suggested to you to manage it.

Support from the vendor :?

Hello Dragan,

ASI5002 was discontinued in the past decade and the driver does not include support for it since October 2014 (Driver version 4.10.30, Oct 10 2014, is the last driver release before the removal according to our release notes). The model is not covered by technical support anymore because it is very old. We also do not support products acquired via grey-market. Where did you buy it? Thank you.

We can provide you with pricing for a model that is currently in production and had comparable features if you like.

Kind Regards

Delio Brignoli

CentOS isn't really an ideal OS for audio or inexperienced users. It may be simpler to get things working on Ubuntu but who knows with these exotic cards.

I am under the impression that things will be much easier with at least a more recent kernel too.
