I used Linux way back when the kernel was stuck at 1.2.13 for what seemed forever, and quite enjoyed building everything myself from source. Then life got messy and busy and that kind of fell by the wayside until recently when I upgraded to a 64-bit processor and suddenly Windows 7 became more difficult to use than Ubuntu (and certainly more difficult to troubleshoot). So today I decided to bite the bullet and re-learn, and I chanced on this site while searching out information.
