How does LinVst compare to airwave?

They are similar in some ways, but use different ways to do the same sort of thing.
They both run the windows vst remotely using Wine and then they communicate with it.
The Linux Daw sends a command to the vst (open the GUI etc) and then LinVst or Airwave passes that command on to the Windows vst (running under Wine) and maybe collect the output from it and pass it back to the Linux Daw.

Well I meant more along the lines of that they must be different somehow otherwise there would be no point in developing whichever came later.
I've just been trying it out and it does seem more stable than airwave, at least with my initial testing. There are some plugins which cause renoise to crash under certain circumstances with airwave (loading fabfilter plugin on to a track and then removing the plugin causes a crash for example) which seem to be ok under LinVst. Think I will be using this permanently instead of airwave.

A lot of testing has been done with LinVst to try to get it as stable as possible but it also depends on what Wine is doing.
There are fundamental differences between LinVst and Airwave especially in their management and communication with the Windows vst.
