wow, thanks for all those details. How does this relate to what caffeine does? I mean, it does seem that caffeine getting fixed will do it. Is there a reason caffeine would or would do the things you are suggesting?

Re: how to avoid computer suspension while using jack capture?
I've looked at the caffeine sources, and well, it's a python script. So, it can't use the solution I've proved here. On Linux, things that require an interpreter, including bytecode, can't make use of the setuid bit. So for making caffeine work, a other solution is needed.
In opposite to caffeine, the little porg I've posted here, didn't require to run all the time, it just set the lock and exit itself. All the rest is done by systemd, which runs anyway, and does it anyway. So it is the most possible lightweight solution, as it didn't require any additional mem or CPU.

On the road again.

doh, makefile error:
side-note: what license for your little code? GPLv3+?
Code: Select all
Makefile:15: *** missing separator. Stop.

I've set up a github page for it now, maybe the make error is a copy and past error. And yes, sure it is GPLv3

sweet! I'm nearly ready to propose to KXStudio to package this in the repos!
