Problems with Cadence ALSA Bridge

Post by machine »

I had a perfect KXStudio install and then fuckt it up with apt-get clean  . Wise lesson never run commands you don't fully understand :D.

So I went for a new minimal debian install with KXrepos (meta-all) everything was working fine and then suddenly my sound on flash player stopped working :(. The bridge ALSA -> loop -> Jack is running and I see no visible errors. I'm really puzzled where it went wrong?? Anybody have any ideas?

Yeah that's what I tought. (I did the boot in recovery mode, clean, I assumed this was the same as apt-get clean) But after reboot my whole system was fucked, no more network connectivity, gui of dolphin was super strange and some crucial stuff went missing.. I don't know what else it could've been..

I'm happy I reinstalled I love Debian way more then Ubuntu. Now I just have to get the sound working again (ahah typical). The ALSA midi bridge is working though.

In my particular experience, the ALSA -> loop -> Jack option never worked. I click the Start button, the button flashes, but won't work. Never did, not even once. shrug.

I use ALSA -> Jack (Plugin) instead. That one works... mostly.

The problem with it is Facebook. Under that arrangement, many Facebook videos gasp, stutter, or even crash the browser. I have learned to turn off JACK and be on ALSA only at all times except when I am actually making musi... erm, you know, my own noises. Then I activate JACK, but then I avoid viewing videos on Facebook.

There is another small problem with that: whenever I switch ALSA/JACK, I have to close and restart the browser.

That's all because of damn Facebook. YouTube, for example, is not affected.

Right, it works! Thank you.

I'll leave it running that way and whine about it if I run into problems. :-)

Well, it's been almost two months without a problem, not even with Firefox, so I guess this is the sweet spot of my JACK configuration.

FalkTX, I have a new question. When I have the 'ALSA -> loop -> Jack' option enabled, what exactly does that 'Start' button do? I want to add that action to a shell script.

Thank you.
