Ardour + Hydrogen looping

Hey Guys
I recently installed KXStudio and started learning to work with Ardour for some time.
The midi implementation may be okay when a midi instrument like a keyboard is used, but for drums, it is far from being as comfortable as programs like Hydrogen (for example when adding a new note, having to wait around 5 seconds before the note is really added to the track gets really annoying after some time). For this reason, I use hydrogen for drum sampling.
Now my problem is, Ardour can't loop while Jack time sync is being used, and I really need that to experiment with the sounds I create.
I have read about Non-Timeline/Non-Sequencer which may be an alternative having this ability, but I don't really want to learn a completely new DAW after investing quite some time to learn the basics of Ardour, if there is another option..
Has anybody a good idea how to work around this stupid Ardour problem?
Thanks in advance
