Thanks for your replies. I'd like to record my saxophone from a microphone an mix it with a computer generated backing track.

Condenser microphone + stand + pop filter + sound card with built-in phantom power and mic preamp. Ardour as DAW for recording. Nothing special.

I think that to start with a good dynamic mic will do to and i think that for a comparable price you can get a better dynamic then condensor.

They're very pretty well for their price, and cost about $85.

I also admit that with dynamic mics like Shure SM58, Shure Beta 57 and Sennnheiser 9xx series the author can reach good results. But the sound of condenser mic is more stable when the musician is moving. Saxophone is that instrument that is often moving while recoring, that's why I've decided that condenser one will be a good solution.

I'm talking about tot start with so i'm not talking about the professional €1000-1500 condensor ones.

These are often already provided with tube amplification, so it's the another category of products.

Btw. That MXL 550/551 is very nice priced for sure if you say it's that good! I'll keep this one in mind.
