m-audio audiophile volume changes

Hi,

I've a problem with my volume. It changes pretty often automatically. Analog volume ADC goes down ...
Is there a way to prevent this?

Perhaps some software is accessing the sound card in the background, and setting the volume?

Only on reboots or logging out/in, or also during a session?

Also in a session... mmh I was for example working with Ardour and rakarrack or guitarix
