snd-aloop stops working after suspend

Whenever I suspend or hibernate my laptop the alsa bridge (snd_aloop) in cadence stops working, I have to re-enble it every time. I thought that it may have been that the snd_aloop module was not being reloaded but I have set systemd to reload it and I don't think that's the problem any way, I've never had to reload the module, I just have to press start again in cadence.
I'm running out of ideas to try though, I've tried kernels 4.1, 4,4 and 4.5, without any difference. I'm using manjaro at the moment if that makes any difference.

Is there anything else I can try? I saw a couple of threads on here about the same kind of problem but the fix was to update the kernel to 3.8 or something.

I'm using jack2. Doesn't cadence (or carla perhaps) require dbus? I don't think I have access to the patched version of jack1.
edit: looks like it is in aur, I'll give that a try.

No, same thing happens with jack1. Is this likely to be a kernel issue? The two main differences to what I'm using now compared to previous distros when this was working ok are systemd and the kernel (I used to build my own kernels).

Is there a command line option for cadence to start the alsa bridge? I'm thinking I could set systemd to do something one resume to load the bridge again.
