The master volume is detected, but master pitch isn't. I can't seem to get any sound from LMMS to my computer (which has functioning sound). Is this because the prefs are set to ALSA? The "track" display on the keyboard changes "tracks" when I move a volume control slider up or down - weird behavior. LMMS provides a controller rack window - not sure what to use that for. The LFO controller has bass ++ controls and wave forms, but nothing that would allow the Novation Launchkey to auto control my test projects outputs. Those seem to be the main issues. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks. I had seen it before, but seeing it again, now that I have the Launchkey in front of me helped sort out a few things. There are a few things that I still don't understand. I would like to use a basic "test" scenario:
1) Create a basic project called "test".
2) Remove everything included as default when starting a new project.
3) Basic project is to have four tracks - piano, drums, bass and guitar - using FluidR3_GM with soundfont for piano.
4) FluidR3_GM is connected to Launchkey MIDI 1.
5) #9 slider is connected to the master volume, #1 slider connected to the volume level master #0 in FX-Mixer window.
6) Pitch wheel connected to pitch dial in FluidR3_GM as it wouldn't work for Master Pitch in main window.
7) Nothing added in the Controller Rack window as I am not sure how useful that is.
8 If I press any of the pads, I only get notes from the keyboard at this point. Should they be doing anything when they are unassigned?
9) If I want to add drums, bass and guitar, what do I use? How do I assign the pads to drums or to clips?
10) The Launchkey only appears as either MIDI 1 or MIDI 2: in LMMS. Do I unassign each plug-in after a track is laid down? Can I shift between MIDI 1 and 2? How do I assign the pads? Is this where qmidiroute comes in?

Thanks

Pitch wheel is connected to that instrument which is getting notes also.

In fact, you can connect many instruments same time.

Pads send allways on channel 10.

You have that FluidR3_GM set to react on all channels, so also ch 10 gets there.

Open that instrument, select midi, and put that follow ch 1.

In your keyboard you have two keys, which pressed together start 'midi channel' selection. You can select different midi channel, so that instrument 1 is played on ch 1, some other on ch 2. Drums are commonly on ch 10.

But, if you want to play different intruments on same time, then you have to split & remap keys to different channels & suitable note range.

For launching samples in lmms, I'm not sure how to do it.

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks, that was very helpful. Any ideas about how to get the transporter keys working?

Connect midi to qmidiroute, and there you see what comes out from buttons. In LMMS there isn't support for connecting midi to everything, might be so that for example 'play' button is not connectable.

And then, if buttons are such that they send value 127 on push and 0 on release, they can't be used for most things. I created feature request / something to git, but haven't had time to implement it myself.
