I'm really happy to be here. For years I've been interested in linux, particularly Ubuntu (though I played around with OpenSUSE, Mandriva and Fedora a bit). Back in 2007 I attempted to start recording in linux, but at that point I believe it was Ardour 1 and pretty much nothing out there. It's pretty wild thinking back to that, because Ubuntu was only a few years old at that point. Anyhow, that didn't work, so I stuck with Mac and Windows.
Recently, I've come back to the linux world, installed Ubuntu 14.04 on my macbook and also picked up a BQ Ubuntu phone (love it).
And soon I think I'm going to try making the transition from Windows 10 over to Ubuntu Studio 16.04. Things look like they are in a great place now for linux audio, and I just have fun with linux, so I'm excited.
As for me, I'm a solo rock musician, been making music for years with Pro Tools. I'm ready to move away from PT though, seeing as how they've implemented an expensive subscription model now, and I only record myself.
I love the linux/open mindset and mission, and I've also implemented that into my music, which is all Creative Commons Attribution now.
For anyone interested, my site is http://www.Vitne.life. Got some new music coming soon, and if all goes well, I'll have my first linux-based songs out next year
