Ardour midi fade in

Post by Melkor333 »

Hey Guys!

I am pretty new to ardour and to music making in general & I'm playing around with plugins and midi recording right now. :D
What i have at moment is a midi track with one region and I wish to add a fade-in to that.
In a normal Audio track, there are these Squares at the beginning and the end of every region, with which I can modify the fade in/out.
But on the Midi track, there is nothing. (The default fader plugin is obviously still active in the midi track)

Is this normal behaviour and one of the differences between midi Tracks and audio track or is it a bug or just an ardour 'weakness' (or do I just overlook something)?
And is there any way to get a fade in/out anyway for a midi track?

You could automate the fader on the midi track. However, ultimately you will likely want to record your midi track into an audio track and then you can do the fade in on that.

Can't you load a simple amplifier plugin and automate that? Then your fader is free to do the volume adjustment in the mix.
