You may be surprised at the number of linux-audio how-to videos that are on youtube,
using common app names as keywords, and follow the sidebar too.
qjackctl, hydrogen, rakarrack, zynaddsubfx, guitarix, ardour and many more.
These will help you visualize how things are configured and connected and used together,
and the link in the previous post has many a good, and well illustrated read.
You might like the new avlinux linux, for a starting distro, as it's newness and completeness
avoids some learning curve issues, related more to package management,
than recording your performance.
