KXStudio LIVE CD (USB) Install VS Upgrade from Repositories

Hi all,
I am new to KXStudio, and linux in general, my only prior use (which helped a little) was Knoppix over the years, as a live dvd.
I am using an HP Win10 laptop.
I tried a few live cd iso's that I used rufus to make bootable usb's from.
I quickly saw that KXStudio was the one to go with and I did easily get it to install by taking some space on my 500gig hd
from my 300gig Win10 partition. Very smart installer.
I went through the 3 day learning curve getting to know and appreciate the Jack interface. Got Reaper installed through wine. Installed asio4all too for kicks but no luck getting that to work, which is a shame cause I also got Nuendo 4 portable working and it sees asio4all but no ins or outs and no Jack available either. Thats a sidebar I don't know that anyone will wish to answer here.
But I am really confused as to whether I should try one more time to install LMint which I did like the desktop environment a lot (cinnamon) and use the upgrade repos, or if I should just reinstall KXStudio with a 200 gig partition to itself and just add all the things I like over the live cd install.
I see everyone refer to the live cd as the OLD METHOD, but I can't see why.
It installs so easy and has all the jack and wine stuff config'd. I used the synaptic upgrader to add a gnome desktop in which at first I had no audio then got to appreciate the beauty of the jack interface and was able to work through that,.
SO WHY SHOULD I INSTALL MINT THEN GO THRU THE HASSLE OF UPGRADING IT WHEN I CAN DO AN EASY INSTALL OF THE JULY 2015 CD DISTRO?
Please explain
Much appreciated
