Sounds frustrating. Haven't had any crashes at all so far myself (using the generic kernel).dArAzAc wrote:As a side note, I advise against UbuStu Jaunty, I, along with many others, have been having serious Kernel crashes. See [http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1137378]. I suggest the Hardy install (as does UbuStu) [http://ubuntustudio.org/downloads] if you want to avoid some stress, and be instantly productive/stable.

Re: Ubuntu Studio Install
I currently have two Jaunty installations, and both work very well. But the rt-kernel doesn't. Perhaps we'll just have to wait a few update-cycles. On a side note, Ubuntu is getting more and more Windows-like, Jaunty will probably be the last version I'll use.

Mwah Windows-like, it isn't that bad right?spm_gl wrote:I currently have two Jaunty installations, and both work very well. But the rt-kernel doesn't. The problem of Ubuntu Studio imo is that they can't wait for a stable RT kernel, they have to ship the same as the generic. Now they have a .28 kernel, while the .29 was much better.
I recommend to use 64studio 3 or install Ubuntu 8.04 and add the 64studio repo's

Re: Ubuntu Studio Install
I don't use 64 studio because it won't detect my hardware drivers, but I'm running Ubuntu Hardy LTS with ubuntustudio-audio, ubuntustudio-audio-plugins, and linux-rt packages-- it's the first completely stable GNU/Linux audio workshop that I've managed to get running (after some serious distro hopping).
So, to the OP-- I suggest that you try an upgraded-to-studio Hardy install.

Re: Ubuntu Studio Install
I may have to do that for the next Ubuntu LTS release, I hear great things about 64 Studio, should have an external hard drive by then...Capoeira wrote:i installed ubuntu hardy MINIMAL (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Insta ... /MinimalCD) and added the 64studio reps. you cant get a more costumized and stable system than this
