I know one can load Carla without a GUI but was wondering whether it's possible to connect to a remote Carla daemon process on a server with a Carla client from a workstation? In other words, to have a Carla daemon and a separate Carla GUI Client which can connect to it over a network.
So the idea would be:
You have a workstation running your sequencer app + a Carla GUI client (which can be directed at Carla daemon/s running elsewhere)
You have a server hosting your synths & FX in Carla, running as a daemon in headless mode.
You're using Netjack to interconnect everything.
One can run Carla over an ssh session and it works OK, except that it xruns badly on the remote system when one messes with plugin GUI's or Carla configuration settings, hence why it would probably work a lot better if a Carla client was running on the workstation machine instead of running Carla over ssh from the server.
This way one could effectively have a sensible man's (check out their prices and see what I mean) Digigrid system.
