Advice on DAW controllers

Hello

A while ago I posted on this thread asking about the compatibility of the Novation Launchpad with ubuntu studio. However, whether it was because of the way the question was put or simply because nobody had the opportunity to do such experiments, no answers were posted.

Given that, I now ask the following: What a good DAW controller with keys and reasonable sized pads? Or two separate devices one with keys and the other with pads?
The purpose is to play virtual instruments and the pads for drums.

Thank you for your time.

@cidian thank you for dropping by!

I've also done a bit more research and found that the Akai MPK mini MK2 and the M-audio Axiom Air Mini 32 can work. Can anyone confirm this?

Don't take my word as guarantee, but I think these are usually class compliant, meaning they will work, but they often have configuration tools to help you map them easily that are not supported under linux. I haven't used any of these products mentioned though.

I have the mpd32 and it works fine so I expect the mpk will as well.

Arturia Minilab works fine but it's just 8 pads (it claims to be 16 using the bank switch from 1-8 to 9-16 but in almost a week owning one I never actually got it to work....)

Hi I am just getting back into production with linux I use debian 10 and ardour along with an android tablet as an instrument along with hydrogen. I would like a standard daw controller. I am also a blues cross harp player so it would be nice to have easier control when recording.
If anyone knows any daw controllers that aren't junk I could use some help
Thanks

I use a Korg Nanokontrolstudio, but I had to write a custom config for it. It gives me full transport control, markers, a jog wheel, and 5 banks of 8 channels with record arm, solo, mute, select and pan control plus a gain slider. The default config was set up so that one channel was a master channel and I didn't want that.

It was pretty cheap too. It's hooked up to ardour/Mixbus via the control surfaces configuration tab as generic midi with my custom config. Configs aren't hard to wrote, but you'll need access to a windows computer to set up the button modes etc.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the microusb socket is very shallow. Otherwise, it works great.
