Guys, I recently re installed ubuntu 14.04 and I do not know what I did exactly but it turns out I do not have alsa drivers I've download the sources for alsa-lib and alsa-utils compiled and installed succefful however the driver itself fails<I get the output

Code: Select all

kibzyzii@kibzyzii-HP-EliteBook-840-G1:~/Downloads/alsa-driver-1.0.25$ make install
if [ -L /include/sound ]; then \
		rm -f /include/sound; \
		ln -sf /home/kibzyzii/Downloads/alsa-driver-1.0.25/include/sound /include/sound; \
	else \
		rm -rf /include/sound; \
		install -d -m 755 -g root -o root /include/sound; \
		for f in include/sound/*.h; do \
			install -m 644 -g root -o root $f /include/sound; \
		done \
	fi
rm: cannot remove ‘/include/sound’: Permission denied
install: cannot stat ‘include/sound/*.h’: No such file or directory
make: *** [install-headers] Error 1
.

I've alsa tried whatever is here :http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index. ... ompilation but it still fails. I can activate sound by just running "pulseaudio" in the termincal but I cannot get sound from jack. Can anyone suggest a simpler way of getting alsa drivers or just overcoming my issue with jack
