KXStudio no longer be a distro?

Post by goines »

Hi.
I concern because I downloaded and made an image in a USB as Live version of KX to install in my pc. I made a back up ready to jump to KXStudio 64 bits 14.04
Today I was reading the forum to someone who ask for the best distro to produce music AVLinux or KXStudio.
Suddenly I read a coment of falkTX that said

"KXStudio is not supposed to be a distro, not anymore anyway.
I suspect when the next AVLinux releases it will use the KXStudio repos.
Considering that I'm not liking KDE5 that much, I'm not sure what I'll do for 16.04..."

I don't know if is convenient to install a full distro that will not be supported or updated. So, sorry if I missed when this happened. If anyone can tell me if this is like this or not.

Thanks.

Thank you falkTX I'm fine with that.

Just was a concern because I used Kubuntu 14.10 and when tried to use the repos of KX following the commands instruction in KX web that installed 300 megas and all my sound system goes to a mess. I couldn't handled all that because my ignorance (I just wanted LMMS). Finally I re installed Kubuntu and installed the older LMMS (Maybe a bad habit of a Window’s user haha). Then I went to Linux Mint mate and installed the deb file from KX but the update manager of L Mint tell me that I should not use a file made for Ubuntu in my system and I must follow the correct instruction in the web of KX to install the repositories.

For now I'm using LMMS 1.1.3 and work fine except when I run older project made on Kubuntu, I think is a permission, and access denied thing, but I don't know really.

I will use KXstudio and I'm sure I will be ok, even if I have a problems I will learn how to fix it.

Thank you again :)
