Drivers for Focusrite Scarlett 2i4?

What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Drivers for Focusrite Scarlett 2i4?

Post by Zinco »

Hi Guys!

Well, I am a bit new here.

I was looking for the driver for the soundcard Focusritte Scarlett 2i4 for Linux (I actually work with 15.04 and Gnome Desktop) but itś being quite impossible get it.

I moved to Linux 1 week ago, I really love it but would be a big problem if I can use the soundcard :-(

Anyone know about where I can find those drivers?

Thanks a lot!

Mario.

I think it's a class compliant device, meaning it should already work in ALSA.
In other words, you don't need drivers for this card in Linux.

I have a 2i2 and it runs like a charm.

For "class compliant" devices like the 2i2 and the 2i4 there are no separate drivers needed. They are included in the Linux kernel.

cat /proc/asound/cards
aplay -l
arecord -l
aconnect -i
aconnect -o

Output of these commands should mention your available soundcards

Hi there! I own a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and I confirm it works straight out of the box with Linux. No drivers needed, just plug and play! Seems to me that you just moved to Linux. Audio management in Linux is quirky and counterintuitive with respect other operating systems. I strongly advice to take your time to learn how to deal with it. This website, especially this article, should be very helpful for beginners. Check also my blog in signature, I just published a post linking to the most useful documentation. I guess it could be useful for you.
