Hello!
On a spare partition, I want to use XFCE as the desktop, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS as the base, but otherwise use Kxstudio for audio production, as this has worked pretty good for me when Ubuntu 12.04 LTS was still supported. I love using KxStudio just not as comfortable with KDE...
I originally had Xubuntu 14.04 LTS already installed so I had tried to follow full instructions from: http://libremusicproduction.com/answer/ ... -reinstall
which includes a link to your enabling the Kxstudio repos for Ubuntu 14.04.
but that didn't work out. My firewire audio interface was on but not connected but Cadence said it was running and it still wouldn't connect after reboots. It seemed that I wasen't in the audio group either.
then I decided to install ubuntu studio 14.04 (audio packages only) instead and then I followed instructions from
http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/Documen ... ry:Upgrade
but as I was updating, I realised that the links in the steps are outdated - good for ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
For example, I realised that some Kxstudio packages that were being installed were from Lucid repos as well as Trusty. Also,
Rather then start over I simply added the 2 commands recommened by libremusicproduction.com :
I don't mind re-installing once again if necessary. I am hoping to get a similar or improved experience that I had using KxStudio over the Ubuntu Studio 12.04 base/desktop.

doesn't exist I guess for 14.04.Step 3 - Install the KXStudio Desktop
For XFCE -> 'kxstudio-desktop-xfce'

I haven't had a chance to test anything yet. But I am concerned that I have now installed outdated or conflicting packages.If you would like to install all software packages from KXstudio but keep your existing desktop environment as default (Unity, XFCE, LXDE) you can install the following packages -
kxstudio-default-settings
kxstudio-meta-all
