Getting back into it

Hi Everyone,

I'm Pat Johnson, reporting from Nashville TN. I have a some recording experience as an artist but haven't had a proper home studio since the Fostex 4 track days. I started using Ubuntu about 5 years ago and have really grown fond of the principles behind FOSS, so now that I've started poking around to set up a new project studio at home, Ubuntu Studio seems the natural step. I have used Audacity on my regular laptop for a long time - editing etc. - but decided to put the full set up on a dedicated desktop that my dad had put out with the rubbish. After replacing a drive and getting new peripherals, it's time to start tracking. I look forward to divining the wisdom of these forums as an alternative to pulling my hair out in frustration or, worse, not getting the tracks down at all.
