Hi from Calgary 18i20
I just became aware of this group when looking up the state of support for the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. I am led to believe the 18i20 is supported from kernel 3.18 on. uname -a told me I am running 3.13 in Mint 17 64-bit, so I'll have to pick a different distribution to be up to date. I have fiddled with Linux since 2005, but have not advanced to the level of expert yet. I used Cakewalk under Windows from version 3 to SONAR v.X3. It has been a nice professional product with very good support and has enabled be to do pro work. However, it appears they are going to a subscription model of licensing. With that and the Windows merry-go-round of disappearing support it is time I look into doing pro work on other systems. In Windows and Linux I use Audacity as my go-to audio editor. For serious recording in MIDI and audio I guess Ardour is what to use and it requires Jack. Both of those are totally new subjects to me so I hope there are tutorials out there. I don't gig an awful lot in Calgary, but we winter in south Texas and the Winter Texans still have a market for dances and concerts. I'm looking forward to learning and contributing.
