Hey everybody hows it going ?!?
Im a lifelong guitar player and huge linux fanboy, ive always believed music was something special only to be shared between an artist and their fans.
my whole life ive given the songs that ive wrote away to anybody whose asked for them because i dont want money i just want to help people get through their tough days like my favorite artists have for me. I have decided to put down my coding projects in exchange for a better purpose i believe. I wish to create a website for geniune musicians of absolutly anykind to give away their music to their fans for free, no sleezy record companies just kind hearted musicians who want to share with the world.
I'm going around asking everyplace i loved and learned from over the years if anyone would be willing to give away their years of hard work along side me hopefully for the goal of making all music free, the way it should be. Straight from the musicians heart to anyones ears, the way i believe it should be, without having to go through anyones wallet first. I really need to know if alot of you feel about this before i sink my very limited cash supply in domain names and hosting and such. Please reply with how you feel and wether or not you would be willing to support what i think is a noble goal.
Hey everybody!

Re: Hey everybody!
It's a nice idea but why not hang on to your hard earned cash and use as many already freely available resources as possible. For example you can get free DNS hostnames from some companies, it is often possible to host websites for free with some hosts provided they're not too big and complex, there are video and audio uploading sites to host content etc.
Perhaps it won't be as nice as having a completely self-contained site but it'll get the job done and you'll still have food in the fridge =)

Re: Hey everybody!
That's fine if you want to do that. However, I have an 11-yr-old keyboard that could die at any time and I need a sound system if I want to be heard outside my home. Therefore my position is I need to continue to make a living from my music as I have since 1965 and my music will not be free.
