I think there are lots more velocity levels than are really needed for realism, so I redid those. Looping the cymbals has increased the decay, and also reduced the size. I tuned the snare lower, and got rid of the "room ring". I added more depth to the kick. I also normalized the waves, so I could convert to 16-bit without a detectable loss of dynamic range. The result will be a stereo kit with vastly reduced ram requirements, which I'll release when done.

This is a nicely recorded kit, with plenty of raw material from which to create something that definitely competes with commercial offerings.
Hello j_e_f_f_g,

Any follow up on this? Did you succeeded in reediting the SFZ?

BTW, thanks a lot for sharing so many samples!

I forgot about this one. I never did finish it, but eventually I'll get around to it. So far, I did only a kick, snare, hihat, and ride cymbal. Here's that:

It looks like there are sfz v2 opcodes in the supplied sfz files, some of which Linuxsampler doesn't support.
So indeed, the sfz files need to be reworked.

I took a stab at creating a smdrums sfz for Linuxsampler which uses the original samples.
Only the RR1 sets are used, the RR2-8 sets can be discarded to save space.
A cymbal choking effect can be achieved by using the hi-hat close key at low velocity settings so it doesn't make a distinctive sound but still chokes the cymbals quite effectively. If this isn't ideal, please let me know so we can find a better solution.

Usage:
Unzip the SMDrums collection to a folder so that you have folders "SMD Cymbals Stereo (Samples)" and "SMDrum Stereo (Samples)" in there.
Place the smdrums_linuxsampler.sfz in the folder where you unzipped the Samples folders.
Load smdrums_linuxsampler.sfz in Linuxsampler.

Please leave comments and suggestions on adding improvements.

Here's an updated version.
