[SOLVED]Unable to start ALSA-MIDI Bridge, devices not visibl

Post by Ashville.Guru »

Hello LinuxMusicians,
Longtime QJackctl user here, I've just been checking out the world of KXStudio applications.

As in the title, I can startup Jack from Cadence, but can't see any ALSA-MIDI devices there. ALSA-MIDI bridge won't start, and this is what the log says:

Code: Select all

Thu Feb 12 01:17:11 2015: Bridge starting...
Thu Feb 12 01:17:11 2015: Using JACK server 'default'
Thu Feb 12 01:17:11 2015: Hardware ports will be exported.
Thu Feb 12 01:17:11 2015: ERROR: a2j_new: snd_seq_alloc_queue() failed
Thu Feb 12 01:17:11 2015: ERROR: a2j_start: a2j_new() failed.
Thu Feb 12 01:17:11 2015: ERROR: a2j_dbus_error: a2j_start() failed.
My USB-MIDI devices are listed both by amidi -l and QJackctl.
EDIT: FWIW, I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit on a RT kernel (3.14.25-rt22), jackdmp 1.9.10. Do let me know if I need to provide any other information.

I was hoping to be able to patch said USB-MIDI devices to through Catia. Any help in this regard would be appreciated...!

Update:

To my surprise, the issue has now disappeared, and I'm able to start the bridge. Two possibile explanations: I logged out and back in, and I also ran software update. One of them seems to have done the trick, though I'm not sure which. Anyway, it's good to finally see my USB-MIDI devices in Claudia.
