Unexpected error:"No system tray detected on this system"

I'm using KXStudio (12.04.5 32-bit), and since yesterday (after updating and upgrading), I'm getting the message "No system tray detected on this system" and only a very minimal graphical interface is started. I can still use most of the software programs because the programs I use the most, open at startup.
I've made my monthly backup of my "home"-directory a couple of days ago so all my data is save.

I don't know what to do, to restore everything back to normal.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know which packages where updated.
But is it advisable to update to the 14.04 distribution, I thought it was still under development?

sounds like a half-backed update, if so, you could try

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install -f
to solve it. Didn't know if it helps, but for sure it didn't harm.

Thanks guys, for your response.

I've made a fresh install of 14.04 and this was a smooth procedure.

Best Wishes!
