Getting weird xruns in Carla 32bit

Linux Mint 32Bit system
Not sure what the exact origins are (Carla or the sfz engine) or how to determine what's causing it but on current builds huge amounts of xruns (audio drops out completely during this time) occur from time to time when playing piano sfz instrument.
It works fine for a couple of minutes, then suddenly xruns for a minute or two with 1000's of xruns, then works again. This didn't happen on older builds so I have no idea what could have changed or is causing this.
CPU is set to performance, jackd doesn't xrun with apps like Guitarix etc. Audio interface is UA25 set to 48K, 128, 3, P89 which works usually works fine.
