I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for this.. I'm new here and it seems to be the right one for my question.
I have an old computer that I use to record guitar and other instruments using KX Studio. It is an EMachine ET1161-01
with 4 Gigs of RAM. It also has an on board NVidia sound card that works fairly well. I was at a second hand store yesterday and found this Maddog Prowler 4.1 sound card in an unopened box. Got it for half price at $2.50 ha ha.. It has the CM 8738 LX DSP chip so I thought it might be better than the on board sound card. I installed it last night but the computer doesn't read it at all. I can't find any Linux drivers for it and thought there may be a way to build one myself but I am not that far advanced in Linux although I am trying to learn as much as possible.
Can anyone help me either find a driver, show me how to build one myself or just let me know that I'm wasting my time and its not worth the effort.
I usually run either Ardour or Reaper using WINE and it works great with the on board card but I was hoping to be able to add some more inputs with the new card so I can record my friends instruments all on a different track independently.
I currently have the Linux 3.13.0.39 low-latency kernel with KX Studio and Jack of course.
Thanks

Many people here are knowledgeable and helpful but if you want definite answers for driver questions you might want to contact the alsa people. They have a user mailing list. Good luck
