Fresh KXStudio install, total n00b, firebox, etc...

Okay guys so I'm ripping my hair out. I've read my setup is good to go right out of the box on a brand new KXStudio install, however I'm at a loss.
Basically I'm interfacing my Mackie ONYX1620 through a Presonus Firebox to get some ins and outs to the computer. I don't need all 16 channels at once, just the 4 that the firbox supports is fine, however I can't get any sound in or out of my linux box. I can't find a how to anywhere on google or this site, it would be AWESOME if somebody could point me in the right direction. Otherwise, I might have to go back to virus infested windose. Ick.
