Trying to set up Edirol FA-66

Post by hu_xue »

Hello

I'm trying to setup an Edirol FA-66 which worked with AV linux and Ubuntu Studio.

As its a firewire device and the mainboard has no on-board firewire ports, I am going through a PCI slotted FireWire port.

The output of <username>@KXStudio:~$ lspci | grep -i "1394\|firewire"
is:
03:02.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB43AB23 IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link)

I take it from this that that the controller can be seen and the Edirol FA-66 is at least getting some power as it has a light on the front.

However, when I open ffado-mixer I see:
ERROR: Could not communicate with the FFADO DBus service"

Yet, ffado-dbus-service tells me that:
Discovering devices...
1411455178310213: Fatal (devicemanager.cpp)[ 191] initialize: No firewire adapters (ports) found.
1411455178310283: Error (ffado-dbus-server.cpp)[ 277] main: Could not initialize device manager

Is my firewire card broken? I don't have a second, so I can't test.
