I am no guitar player but I use guitarix from time to time. Its built-in tuner is so user-friendly and easy to use that I use it to fine tune soundfonts when I edit them with Polyphone.

I guess you could be better served by using the gxtuner lv2 plugin (with jalv to make it like standalone, for example) to avoid the overhead and reduce the used screen size.
The gxtuner lv2 plug is exactly the guitarix tuner, just decoupled as LV2 plug.
Code: Select all
jalv.gtk http://guitarix.sourceforge.net/plugins/gxtuner#tuner

My distro offers gxtuner, a standalone app. Fine, too.

The standalone GxTuner app is a bit outdated, and intentional superseded by the LV2 plug, which represent the Guitarix tuner we use now (2014). The standalone GxTuner is from 2011, with just maintenance updates.
