Software to cut tracks into tiny (1-3s) random fragments?

Hi all, I know I'm always asking, never answering but I swear I tried to UTFSE, but am getting no hits for this. Audacity is what I'm using now but I'm trying to cut a track of approximately 5 minutes into 1-3 second segments preferably in a random overlapping fashion. Audacity is going to literally take me days. Does any software do this? Could it be done with a file splitter like MD5 or would the file be a bunch of useless junk as I expect it would be (I'm working with WAV 16 bit files). Thanks.

Found my own answer. I keep searching for software in synaptic package manager only...when I looked in software manager I found "wavbreaker" which was exactly what I needed. Cut the file up into 95 pieces in seconds. Nice!
EDIT - Only thing I dislike is it has issues with file naming if you produce more than 500 pieces, seems to rename sequentially past about that number so you have to divide any track into pieces sequentially if you want them really small - I've realized 1-3 seconds was way too long...
