Kernel versions

Post by bluebell »

I noticed that a Qtractor-session with many tracks and plugins uses more % RT cpu and produces xruns when using
linux-image-3.15.0-031500-lowlatency_3.15.0-031500.201406131105_amd64.deb

linux-image-3.12.23-031223-lowlatency_3.12.23-031223.201406251135_amd64.deb is a lot better.

I'll do some tests if a kernel with realtime patches is even better.

It's really a cup of wonders.

My notebook computer (Core i5) performs better with 3.15.

it depends on your hardware. most recent kernels seem to work better with newer hardware.

On my amd athlon x2 64 bit machine past 3.12 is unstable to the point i get complete system freezes within minutes of login in.

On my core 2 due 32 bit laptop upto 3.15 works fine but the fans dont run and my cpy ends up iddling at 60c.

3.11 is fine for both my desktop and laptop, however if i want to use an old mbox i need to jump back down to 3.5 that has an alsa patch to get capture working
