Linux Kernel 3.5 with RT patch

In a last ditch attempt to get my mbox 1 working, i want to install the RT kernel.
Ive tried this before but ive had a hard time finding the right kernel and patch to go with it.
I specifically need 3.5 or i suppose 3.4 would do. Anything above 3.5 and the modified alsa driver i have to get inputs working on the mbox wont compile.
Also i need to make sure the irq scheduling is setup correctly.
Basically the issue is, that playback produces clicks and pops, that are not a result of x runs. Zam audio who created the mbox patch to get inputs working says an rt kernel with proper irq schedulling is needed for stable operation.
Ive already spent so much time getting not very far i need some help.
Im running kx studio 12.04
amd 64 dual core
nvidia gt610 graphics

I managed to find deb packages of linux-image-realtime 3.4.XX and headers aswell.
Unfortunatly the system locks up and it might be to do with nvidia 311, during installation it complained about this

so attempt 2.
downloaded 3.4.89 from kernel.org and matching 3.4.89 RT patch, figured out how to patch the source. after some issues with it not building (missing libraries) ive got it configured with a config from an already setup 3.4 kernel. A few modifications to remove a few things not needed and its compiling away...
Now i just need to wait for it to compile, i think it took 30 minutes the last time i compiled a kernel.
The next step would be to get nvidia working with this.
Ive also changed a few bios options and now my system boots much quicker, and the clicking and popping in the current kernel with my mbox is now atleast useable, so hopefully with the RT kernel maybe it will solve it...

waste of 2.5 hours compiling.
kernel locks up after selecting it in grub, just like the prebuilt 3.4 kernel i had previously tried.

You may want to give Liquorix kernels a try. It has worked well for me to minimize latency.
What I use is most of the time is a midi keyboard, with LMMS, on a single core processor. .

the liquirox kernels only give the latest ones which dont work with the patch and dont work with my system.
