Found a better fretless bass. Haven't had time to loop it, but it's not that large anyway.
Glenn, this replaces the previous fretless bass.

Hi jeffg,
as I know you're always looking for bass samples, I just found this:

It's not fretless, but there's an upright that might be nice. (I haven't tried them.)

Yep, saw them and tried them. I wasn't particularly inspired by these samples. I don't know whether it's his recording technique, or the sound of his very customized hardware, but there are lots of buzzes, rattles, random harmonics, and generally the tone is too nasal with a weak low end. It's not a bass sound I like, and I've already released better alternatives, so I decided not to pursue these.
What we
really need for bass now is good sets of slapped and popped samples. Maybe Spencer will sample his bass. If he can get me a wave of individual chromatic notes, I'll chop it up, clean them up, and make an sfz.

I suppose I could, but my bass technique is really homebrewed. I only just got the bass for christmas and am not very good. You want a slap articulation with long decays I assume? How many velocity layers? Its another project in a long list, but it seems interesting. And I always like to fill needs in the community. No promises yet, but I'll look into it.

Just buy a bunch of Larry Graham records... or watch this:

Now that's what I call 'drum n' bass' music
