Hello together,

I've recently updated my system to KXStudio 14.04. It works fine, even jack doesn't need to be forced to restart after suspend mode - perfect.
One thing I can't handle correctly is the Alsa Bridge. It acts like it should in most cases with my firefox (youtube, vimeo, etc.) but I only can hear sound on soundcloud ( or wikimedia embedded audio file player) when starting the alsa-loop-jack bridge - but only with occassional noise ("crickle" - no xruns) coming out the speakers. Is this related to html5 content?

What can I do, to work with the alsa-> jack plugin only?

If you have pulseaudio, as well as ALSA I would recommend side channeling (omitting) pulseaudio as a workaround for the issue.
Seems pulseaudio interferes with ALSA at times. .

Pulseaudio isn't installed on Kxstudio 14.04 and I think there are good reasons for this decision. I had to change the plugins a lot under 12.04, for different apps I needed a different bridge. But I'm just curious if I can't get the alsa-jack plugin to handle all Browser Sound jobs... Or is this impossible because of some technical reasons?

Oh yes, that is it. Seems there's no other chance than using pulseaudio - sadly.

I run jack full time under kx studio 112.04 and have yet to come across a single issue when running non jack aware programs that a simple change of config wouldnt fix.

whats the saying "if it aint broke dont fix it" ill be sticking with 12.04 for a while yet.

i thought i might have been quick on the draw saying 14.04 is too new and bound to be full of bugs.

well im kind of right, the forums are flooded with issues relating to 14.04 in some way or another, its mostly 14.0p4 this not working, that not working, issue with this

As it is a bug in firefox which was first reported back in 2012, I don't have to blaim the distro version. To the contrary, I don't have any other issues with jack. Even with my new interface (RME Babyface) everything works flawlessly with the exception of the mentioned firefox bug.

sound wont work when running jack through non jack programs unless you have the alsa bridge running.

Not sure why you are getting crackling, as i use jack 100% of the time and firefox works perfect no matter what site i use for audio, sound cloud, youtube, facebook. any site will play audio fine.

HTML5 as far as i know is still under development, i tried html5 for youtube and it was terrible. I went back to flash plugin.

try chromium

I'm using flashplayer 29, in the bug report it mentions that firefox as of v28 tries to use pulseaudio before alsa, but i dont get the bug. audio in firefox works perfectly through jack.

So why am i not effected.

i dont use html5, have you tried not using html5 and using adobes flashplugin instead
