Need help with midi

I'm pretty sure something isn't right with my midi setup. I've been trying a few different midi sequencers and most of them have the same issue, they only list Midi Through Port 0 as an output. This happens in Aria Maestro, Seq42, HarmonySEQ, Rosegarden, Muse2. In Muse2 I can create a Jack Device but the others only seem to allow me this one midi out but I would like to send midi out from each track to Carla or standalone instruments.

In Ardour I see the midi out for each track when I create one when looking in Catia and Qtractor works as well when I create a midi bus to send on.

I have Cadence bridging jack permanently as well as the alsa midi bridge working. I have a2jmidid running. I don't know if I need anything selected in the midi driver in jack settings, I've read in some places it is not needed. It just seems to give me duplicate ports when I have it set to anything other than none.

As far as AriaMaestosa, Seq24 and HarmonySEQ go, I get the same. You could use the Through Port and send output of each track on a different channel, then select the channel each individual instrument listens to. Rosegarden uses configurable MIDI devices. There is an option to ‘Manage MIDI devices’ in the ‘Studio’ menu, which allows you to create as many new devices as you need (selecting ‘No port’ as an output for each). You can configure each track to output to a different MIDI device. Then you connect each device to whatever instrument you need, using Catia. Of course, some session manager would be of help here if you want your connections to be persistent. As for Muse2, it allows routing MIDI output straight from the interface. A left click on the ‘Port’ section of each track provides a list of available MIDI input ports, from which you can select your destination.

The thing is, the Alsa MIDI bridge exposes Alsa MIDI port to jack applications, not the other way around. So Applications that use Alsa MIDI remain unaware of Jack MIDI ports.

Ok, well that's encouraging then, glad to know I don't have something broken. I will give them all another try with using different channels and see how that goes, thanks for the advice.
