What's the status with core things supporting Non Session Manager, such as Guitarix and Hydrogen? What about Muse and Rosegarden? Those things would make a huge difference to me in having a flexible workflow. I like the drum editors in Muse and Rosegarden better than most other programs, even though I've been using Ardour for audio tracks.
I'm leaning these days toward having Claudio save settings for JACK hardware and NSM for running different programs. It would be easier if I could integrate everything better.
More NSM support

What does Claudia do that NSM doesn't? You can save your Jack connections in NSM. I believe falkTX himself advises to use NSM for session management now.
I don't know about Guitarix but Hydrogen is definitely supported in NSM.

Re: More NSM support
Nope, Hydrogen and Guitarix are both not officially supported: http://non.tuxfamily.org/wiki/ApplicationsSupportingNsm
Neither actually saves their settings with the Non session. The *settings* have to be manually saved and then opened again per session.
I am quite sure that falktx does not recommend NSM instead of Claudia. Claudia handles certain programs that natively support LADISH but do not support NSM. Claudia also saves JACK Driver settings and NSM does not. Claudia also has "rooms" which is not an NSM feature.
I like NSM overall a lot, and I want to see it more supported. I think this is key to getting GNU/Linux audio really to the point that is more friendly to general audience who do not want to fuss with tons of things.

I see what you mean about Hydrogen, I forgot about that.
You will have to ask falktx about that, I definitely have seen him recommend NSM over Claudia before, because Ladish isn't being actively developed anymore or something? I don't remember.

Yes, falktx recommends NSM in the cases that it is better, but he doesn't recommend it in every case.

Re: More NSM support
I can say that NSM support wouldn't implement in guitarix so far. Maybe, when there is a propper release of NSM out there.
You can use it as proxy client, that give you the advance of commandline options.
Guitarix development is focused on analog circuit simulation, and the live use in embed systems for now.

It's a crap argument to wait for NSM release, come on every serious audio distribution has NSM included. Be clear and tell that you don't want to implement it, alas, but don't give us this distorted bullshit.
