I'm a long-time (since 1985) unix user, and had an Ardour/Jack/FFADO DAW running very well on a Toshiba M-60 laptop/ Presonus Firebox at Ubuntu 08.04.
When that machine died, I tried half-heartedly to set up the new machine (Toshiba p500) at Ubuntu Studio 10.04, but had too many xruns and not enough tiime.
Now I'm back to try again, most likely at UbuntruStudio 12.04 (but I'm open to conviction)
Has anyone succeeded in setting up Upstart (at least that's the INIT replacement that Ubuntu was using when last I looked) to reserve a runulevel for audio, so that only the essential processes are running?
