having the most recent kernel isn't much of a problem.when someone writes something it depends on certain libraries or certain ways the dependant files Work.

often the newer versions break older patches and installs.

I meed to use a patch for my digidesign mboz. which doesn't install on kernels above 3.5


just have to wait till it gets accepted into mainstream then u won't need the patch.

as foe your issue... not a clue. I know how it is following inscriptions but not understanding what is going ib

It looks like the installer doesn't install correctly.
What you can do:
- download the sixfireusb-0.6.0.tar.bz2 file (yes, this is an older version)
- copy the file "Makefile" from this archive into the directory, where the sixfireusb-0.6.1 source resides
- try again

Please report whether this worked. I recently changed the install procedure due to a request, maybe this doesn't work with all kernels.

works (kernel: 3.11.0-11-lowlatency #5-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT). haven't tried with other kernels.
