Thanks :D
Sadly it's been almost 3 years old now and I haven't done anything since.
Abyssal lack of time mostly, and also, let's face it, lack of inspiration. :oops:
But things are slowly improving on both aspects so 2014 might be the year of the come back ! :wink:

How do you see or apply loop points in ocenaudio ? I haven't found it yet... :roll:

A guy posted another free jazz bass sfz. I don't think it's quite as good as the one I posted. But's free, has an even tone, and may work better in some mixes.
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2&t=404089

Use the following for the .sfz file instead of the supplied sfz:

Code: Select all

<group>
ampeg_release=.2

j_e_f_f_g, your wikisend.com links don't seem to work anymore. Well they sort of do, but point to wrong files - which is pretty confusing.

I'm getting really tired of your comments here jeff...

It's not Linux and its devs fault that your precious companies don't release software for Linux.
Linux is more than capable of handling them.
I have to add an "amen" to falk here. Jeff, I don't know what you think of Audacity (it's even available for Windows :D ) but I think it's very powerful. Lots and lots of options for working audio files. Maybe it's just my newbie-ness...

Windows is all about ripping off users. That's all. Closed Source. Backdoors. Wrapping samples in obscure formats that need a proprietary player. License keys. Hardware dongles. Phone home programs.

When I bought my audio interfaces I got dongles and licenses for commercial DAWs, of course requiring Windows.
I went to my son's PC (since his parents use Linux he MUST use something other :) ), wanted to try the software. The first thing they wanted was ... my personal data. Hey, I payed für this software and the first thing they do is bothering me to get my data.

No. *puke*

And I don't run with open eyes into a situation where I cannot edit my songs with the software I paid for just because they switched off their license servers or the dongle broke. No. No. No.

I am willing to pay for software as I did before. But closed source is a no-no.

Interesting discussion above, but we're drifting away from the topic ;).

If you want to continue discussing things besides jazz basses, please create another thread ;).

Those are temporary links. GMaq then puts the files on his "Sounds Site" at http://www.bandshed.net/sounds (under "sfz") for permanent storage. Bookmark his site. "contents.txt" describes what's there.

He may have missed the jazz bass. I haven't seen him around lately. If so, we'll redo it when he gets back.

Right, sorry. I actually found the link to GMaq's site in another thread, the jazz bass is there but it's a broken version.

Hehe

I uploaded that sucker about 4 times! The last one I uploaded was the one with a bit of distortion on the A2 sample, IIRC correctly the poster didn't use Jeff's fix and copied a wav from within the zip. However I have been busy lately and will gladly upload a new one if need be..

That was me. When i updated A2.wav, I mistakenly added it to the root of the zip (instead of the JazzBass dir). There are 2 A2.wav's in the zip. The one in JazzBass is the older. Should be the other one.

He figured out what I did, even before I did. @#$!@ clever endusers. I hate 'em.

I should go easy on the cough syrup, but it was the only remaining thing in Rob Ford's medicine cabinet.

P.S. Could you come get Justin Bieber and bring him home, before he pee's on one of our national monuments or something?

I just got the soundfont from http://www.bandshed.net/sounds/sfz/jazzbass.zip

When I play G#3 I hear a noise instead of a note. All the other notes work correctly.

I tried with linuxsampler and with Carla, both yield the same result.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Hi,

Yep you're right, sounds like the Jazz bass is suddenly running through a Big Muff pedal :lol: As far as I know I have the most recent version uploaded (it was revised several times) Jeff will most likely see this and fix it soon, Thanks for reporting it..

Ah, I thought I converted all the original 32-bit waves to 16-bit, but I missed that one. I didn't notice because I do all my audio editing/playback on Windows apps, which handle 32-bit waves fine. Linux apps don't properly deal with them. Here's the converted file:
