Excellent news - I'll give it a go tonight.

The file dialog bug was really getting to me and I wasn't keen on having to switch desktop just to use 1 app. I feared it would still be present in the new release so thats a relief to hear its gone.

Looks like some interesting changes had been added. I like the idea of the plugin browser in the left panel. It does seem like the issue I was having with the plugin scanner window has been fixed, I can change directories now and add new ones. It still seems to be very picky with vsts when scanning them though, had a few crashes so far when it doesn't like one that it detects.

I'm impressed with Tracktion's beat detection and abilities to stretch audio clips to match a timeline of shifting tempo.

Has anyone given the LinuxDSP plugs another try under 5.3.3 yet? Apparently they weren't working so well.

There was a problem with the plugin GUI not receiving mouse (or any X11) events - this was something which also used to happen in a JUCE based (example) host application called JOST, but was later fixed in that host application, though unfortunately I don't have the details of the fix. I've also seen it affect the Loomer plugins and some other JUCE based linux VSTs. The evidence suggests it is some kind of race condiiton which happens between the plugin and the host when embedding the plugin GUI. As this has been seen to happen in other plug-ins (and the linuxDSP plugins are know to work with other hosts) I'm reluctant to investigate / modify the plugin code (and risk breaking support in other hosts). If anyone more familiar with JUCE (or JOST) has any information I'll be happy to help find a solution, if it is still required.

Aspect, which I think uses JUCE, is working just fine but it always has.

Of course, you'd expect JUCE using plugins to be the last type of plugin to have issues with Tracktion. It should be the benchmark for other JUCE hosts to follow..

And Resound doesn't and never has for me.

The nature of the problem (if it is the same as I observed originally) seems to be a race condition when the host embeds the plugin GUI, which, by its very nature is the kind of problem which might work fine, and then it might not.

So, why do I see a problem with JUCE based plugins then?

Can confirm aspect works in tracktion also can´t remember a special gui problem with any vst in tracktion.
Otherwise there are no problems with linuxdsp -plugins in any other host.
Strange that the plugins react different:
Dyn 4000 + GT 500:
dials can only set with mouse wheel/ right mouse click sets to lowest position - switches work
Dyn 500:
the same except right mouse click on "In Gain" sets to Zero
EQ 500:
the same except right mouse click centers all dials

mbc2b:
dials can only set with mouse wheel/ right mouse click does nothing - switches don´t work

Hope this helps in any way

That's what I was asking about, thanks antiesen

Have you sent your findings re: LinuxDSP plugs to support@tracktion.com , anyone?

No, didn´t send an email. I knew this issue before I bought some of them.
I can work with it using mouse-wheel so it´s no biggie for me.

mbc2b sounds broke enough (under Tracktion) to be worth reporting, at least. Its most likely a flaw in Tracktion as a LinuxVST host. It'd seem a shame if LinuxDSP's stuff won't work properly. You two and Loomer are the UK's, closed-source Linux music software superpowas - you can work it out! :)

Is it just me or is lasso selection not working under 5.3.5?

You are supposed to get a selection rectangle ('lasso') when you hold ALT and LMB drag to select multiple clips quickly.

I know we normally don´t touch it ... but try LMB and windows key.

Aha! How very right you are on both counts! I'd tried holding all combinations of ALT, CTRL and SHIFT whilst click-dragging LMB under Tracktion but n'e'er did I so much as tap 'that' key! On my System76 laptop it has the Ubuntu logo on that 'super' key instead so its not as offensive or uninviting to touch.

I've liked everything about Tracktion that I've tried up until now except for this issue with its MIDI editing:

i think snapping is always "snap to grid" coupled with zoom. For triplets click on 4/4 (time signature) above the transport bar.
In the properties panel is an option for triplets.
