[seq24] Assign a midi knob to BPM in .seq24rc

Hi all!

I spent a lot of time of the last few days trying to find a way to do realtime tempo changes in a sequencer until I found out it can be set up in .seq24rc modifying these two lines:

# bpm down

This link seems to be the most helpful out in the internet, but I'm still scratching my nose looking at it.

I can foresee that it probably isn't posible to just turn a knob clock and counterclockwise to set the tempo up and down since they are two different commands to seq24.

Any help would be warmly received.


ps.: I know I can do it with apostrophe and semicolon, but that wouldn't let me control the speed of the change, so it's not really what I'm after.

Progress!

I've mapped two knobs on my controller to bpm up and down. That means either direction the 'bpm up' knob is moved, will turn the bpm up, and the same for 'bpm down'. Still looking for a way to do it on I knob only. Possibly through some midi routing?

For the record, the second field within brackets is the "on" field. This is what this lines mean (I'll lay it out vertically for convenience):
  • 1 - This activates the field
    0 - Don't invert the control
    176 - Send knob data
    71/74 - This is the CC number of the knob I set up. I got it from jack-midi-dump
    0 - The minimum value the control will take
    127 - The maximum value the control will take
