I remember plugging in Focusrite 2i4 and it worked right away on my Ubuntu 12.10

Now I had to re install Ubuntu for some reason and now the soundcard does not work.

I see it listed with the soundcards in alsamixer and i can even select it but after i hit escape and go back to alsamixer again, the default soundcard is selected again.

I tried modifying /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf to select the USB soundcard by default and that does not work either.

any help?

Umm ok. SO now if i restart my laptop with the soundcard plugged in, ubuntu recognizes it automatically.

Now the problem I am facing is that the volume is too low on channel 1 and 2
but high on channel 3 and 4.

Any help?
