New to the forum here and new KXStudio user. I am using a Presonus 1818VSL with KXStudio. After system startup all seems fine. Catia shows the connections in what I assume is the proper manner. Ardour starts up, records, plays back etc. All seems fine. Sometimes it will work properly for quite a period. Other times Jack will die and I cannot get the Jack server to restart until I shut down the system and reset the Presonux box. Not sure where to go here. Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to "fix" this so it is more stable?
Kernel version is 3.8.0-32-lowlatency 64 bit

Re: Presonus 1818VSL and disconnects
Hi,
Not sure what all the kernel options are for KXStudio but I think an older kernel might be worth a try, anything from 3.2-3.6. Although it doesn't necessarily affect all USB devices kernel 3.8 is known to have USB Audio problems.

Re: Presonus 1818VSL and disconnects
Just an update on my earlier post.
I have not changed to a different kernel. In experimenting around I found that if I close Ardour things seem to stay stable. If I leave Ardour open for long periods Jack tends to eventually shut down. So far, by using this approach I haven't really had any issues that would affect using Ardour during normal length recording sessions.
I did run into an issue with a Digimax D8 which was hooked up to the Presonus 1818vsl. During one recording it began to malfunction and caused an abrupt end to that recording. The Digimax may be defective. Haven't figured that one out yet so I have disconnected it and am running on the 8 channels in the 1818vsl instead of 16 with the 2 combined. Oh well.....
Since things tend to be working I will wait for the official release of the newer kernel.
Thanks for the help.
