Multiple midi controllers for Jack?

Post by briandc »

Hi everyone,

I'd like to hook up two midi controllers so that I can play two different synths at the same time. But looking at the Jack setup page, I have (till now) only connected one midi controller at a time. Does Jack allow multiple input sources at the same time? If so, how?

Thanks! :)

I think there is nothing special about multiple midi controllers in Jack. They should get unique ports as either Alsa midi (USB midi devices) or Jack midi (firewire devices). Then just use QJackCtl, etc to make connections as usual.

Hi all,

I'm back to the original post here, to ask if anyone can tell me how to get multiple USB midi controllers hooked up in QJackCtl. When I go to the input settings, it allows only one midi controller to be selected. How can I add more? Do I have to open a second QJackCtl??

Or should I use another management system (session handler) to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Ok! I think I'm getting better at this! I added a plugin connection in the patchbay section of QJackCtl and then I saw it in the connections window. (--At least, I think that's what caused it.) At any rate, I got it working and I saved the patchbay definition.
Maybe there's hope after all!... :D
