Hello all,

I am searchingfoir a app that will play random note and display them on a staff.
This way, I'll be able to play the right notes on my saxophone and learn the fingering faster.

It would be like "piano booster" (http://pianobooster.sourceforge.net), but for any instrument.
And what would be awsome, is if the software can reconize the note I play.

Any idea of a software capable of this ?

Nootka can do this.

You would use a microphone with your sax.

An earlier version is in the repostiory for ubuntu/KXStudio but there is a later version, and a new version is coming soon.

check http://nootka.sourceforge.net/

Hello Luster,
I have practice using Nootka with the saxophone.
I noticed that the applicaton sometimes can't get the played note when in exam mode.
It seems to occur only (or at least more) for the lower notes.
in normal mode, it get the note straingth on.

The input metering system does show the played note in OK (green) but I won't get a "good answer".

this little problem set aside, Nootka really is usefull ebven for a beginner sax player like me !!

I'll come back after more practice and testing
