Linuxsampler crashes after update.

Hi

A few days ago I updated kxstudio on my laptop and then today on the studio PC. All seemed fine until I came to run linuxsampler on the PC and it crashed with a core dump. I then tried the laptop and found the same fault so I am sure it is related to the update. Linuxsampler is used daily on the studio PC and cerainly previously worked on the laptop.

Linuxsampler starts okay, but crashes when I try to connect to any lscp files. The fault is identical on both machines.

I tried booting from the previous two kernels with no luck and I tried a purge and reinstall of linuxsampler, again with no luck.

Has anyone else seen this and can anyone give me any advice?

Thanks.

Hi Falk

Thanks very much for your swift reply as always!

The system specs are very modern. Both machines are based on intel i5 processors, 8 Gb Ram, 64 bit linux (originally 12.04) using the 3.8 lowlatency kernel. I configured both machines in the same way.

We use two approaches, Qsampler (called from Claudia) for editing lscp files and testing or calling linuxsampler directy from a bash script for day to day use. I have tried several approaches, all seem to behave in the same way.

Hi Falk

Again thanks - I will do this later today as I am away from the machines at the moment.

I did find out one thing last night though. The problem only exist when linuxsampler is loading an existing lscp file. I can load a gig or sfz file into qsampler and it will play, so the problem is somewhere in the loading of the lscp file. If I save a new lscp file and reload it, then it fails again.

More info later.

In the lscp file, you'll find the line RESET near the top.

Try putting a hash in front of it,

#RESET

save the file, then try loading it again.

Alex.

Hi Alex

Yes that did the trick. Thank you very much indeed.

I didn't suspect that line as it has always been there before. Just shows how a small change can throw you.
