2 remastered and enhanced tracks from 2002

Post by totalchaos »

Hi,

I would like to share 2 tracks from my "album zero" made in 2002. The album actual name is "Transmission", The concept of it is a dark ambient sound landscapes, and searches more the "psychedelic impact" than a "ordinary" musical value. The concept was not endorsed from most of the people, that actually heard it, but had a strong impact on a very few people, that manage to feel and understand my vision for this music. There is this friend of mine that said to me, quote "This music help me to pass through one of my most hard times, in the past few months". He also said that this is his favorite part of my musical works and one of his favorite music at all. His words actually motivates me to make a remastered and enhanced version of my first album.
First to say that this music was produced entirely on analogue equipment. In 2002 i still didn't have a home desktop. I spent a few good hours in some "semi professional" music studio, but most of the work i made at home and record on magnetic tapes. So for this version i transfer all the master tapes to my desktop, than made a precise noise cleaning to finish having digital track channels for every original track. Than following my original notes, i recreate the tracks and also add some new sounds and noises that was impossible to be replicated, back in 2002.
All of this is made on AVLinux, using Audacity and Ardour. Special thanks to GMaq for providing this stable and reliable OS, and also Ardour and Audacity developers.

and here are the actual links:

Night Vision https://soundcloud.com/totalchaos-1/night-vision

I still have not decided, if i should share the whole album on torrent at this time..

Hi totalchaos,

Wow this must have taken many hours to do the analog transfers and then sync everything up! Great job, I'm not really a specialist in Ambient genres but this stuff is really moody and I love some of the tones and sounds you used especially that spooky organ!

Yes, but it was worth it. I finally make my very first music compositions, just the way they supposed to sound. There is even some careful pitch shifting in some of the tracks, to amplify the psychedelic effect. And the original magnetic tape hiss was so inappropriate for my album conception. Sadly there's 1 track that is damaged beyond recovery.
I am very happy to see that "Phonograph" is liked several times already.
But i like to share some memories and thoughts, about the other one "Night Vision". I should say that the Universe itself played a very important part in this track in particular. My original idea was to use a noise from a heavily detuned radio broadcast. But even in my wildest dreams i couldn't imagine, that at the moment of recording would play this particular music from the radio station, that matches so so perfectly to the mood i was looking for. That's why this one became so precious to me. And that is why i prefer it for sharing, in between the other 11 tracks.
